So, Charlie decided to sacrifice some of his blood to the black flies and monster mosquitoes up north in Canada just to find the special quartz and mica rock. After two days and thousands of kilometres it all paid off. He loved the rock and the quarry men loved Charlie. In fact he was asked to spend the night in camp, have a swim in the glacial lake, and gobble down barbeque butterfly pork chops. This gave him lots of time to wander around and pick and choose. Red, green and black varieties of the Canadian Sheild all ended up in the pick-up to head down south. The border patrol boys were puzzled as it’s not the kind of contraband they usually deal with but they all admitted “that’s some good sparkly rock.” The only sad thing of the whole trip was that Charlie didn’t see any big granddaddy bull moose. Maybe they heard him coming!
